Most artists would consider it a tragedy if all of thei works were stolen from a gallery. However, Eva Lewarne considered it an honor when all of her works were stolen from the Grand Palais in Paris, because, “that was where Picasso was discovered.” (Lewarne, artiststoronto.net) Lewarne graduated from Ontario College of Art where painting was her specialty. She said that during her time there all she did was paint and drink coffee. Her paintings depict mundane, everyday activities, but from a curious, colorful point of view. It is very obvious that, like most artists, Lewarne is an avid people watcher, as most of her paintings are based on observations around her. She says that her paintints of people look beyond the physical to portray the feeling and emotion of these everyday people she comes across. She calls this method “seeing under their persons.” The colors she uses are bold and bright. They are happy and hopeful, even though the subject matter may be grim. This is her unique process and style.

As for aging, and getting older, Eva Lewarne states, “As long as I can be involved in art-making I am a happy camper no matter how the clock ticks on. (Lewarne, artiststoronto.com)
